Grace Misinde: Gold in her Skin

                                             Model: Grace Misinde

Grace Misinde is one of those special girls that when you stare at, you ask yourself a question that if the creature is like this then how much beautiful is the creator (God). She is dark-skinned in a way that signifies Melanin excellence. Of course, when asked to narrate her story from grass roots, she will single out her skin color as a source of torture from her peers.

“When I was in high school, I was usually teased by my mates for being dark-skinned and I consequently developed inferiority complex and become insecure with my skin color. However, as I was growing up, I learned to love my skin for its color which is rich in melanin.” says Misinde.

The 21-year-old model who embarked on the art of modelling in 2019 having developed a love for pictures and attracting an array of professional photographers in the country, dreams big of her career as a model.

“I would love to work with big brands like Coca cola, Vaseline, Bio Oil Malawi, KNQR clothing line. I’m a commercial model so billboards and commercial videos are my primary goals,” said Misinde.

Misinde, an Accountancy undergraduate at Catholic University, said Aduta Kech and Christina Mabvuto are her role models. When quizzed to reveal her source of inspiration, she said God.

The model said the Malawian fashion industry still has a room for growth and impact on the international scene.

“We need as a country to recognize fashion modelling as a development factor that contributes to cultural heritage and socio-economic growth through tourism,” Misinde said.
